The cars still exist, but aren't being made anymore. While a single member of the species still lives, the species is considered to be endangered. If an example of a car still exists in a show room or museum and not out on the road, then it's extinct in the wild. Few cars ever truly go extinct, because there's always a few examples that exist somewhere, but not every car gets to go back into the wild.
